Dubai Museum

The Dubai Museum is located in the Al Fahidi Fort which was built in 1787. Al Fahidi Fort is believed to be the oldest building in Dubai. The fort is square-shaped and is made out of coral rock and mortar in several phases. Three towers occupy three of its corners.  It was built as a fort of defence way back when the place frontiered urban Dubai. Later it turned to be an arsenal for artillery and weapons. It was used as a prison as well. It is now a place of attraction for tourists coming to Dubai. The upper floor is supported by wooden poles and the ceiling is constructed from palm fronds, mud, and plaster. The museum was opened up by the Ruler of Dubai in 1971 to people.

History in Al Fahidi Quarter

Dubai was not a place like what people see these days. The Al Fahidi Quarter, which was established before the 19th century, tells us the culture, lifestyle and glory of old Dubai which was a hub of various international trades like that of textiles and jewellery.  It once accommodated wealthy pearl and textile merchants from Persia.  That is how it got names Bastakiya Quarter and Fahidi neighbourhood. So the Dubai Creek brings to viewer the beauty of the past from the present! Al Fahidi occupies the eastern portion of Bur Dubai along the creek. Walls of many coral and limestone buildings have wind towers, which was once the ‘air-condition’ of the Middle East. All these have been excellently preserved.

Jumeirah Beach

On the coast of the Persian Gulf, the beautiful white sand beach of Jumeriah lies. It is named after the Jumeriah district of Dubai from where the beach originates.  The Jumeriah Beach Residence (JBR) is the main attraction here. It is a waterfront community extending  1.7 km along the shore of the Arabian Gulf in Dubai Marina. With 40 towers JBR can accommodate about 1,500 people. Among these 40 towers, 35 are residential and 5 are hotels. It is a hub of world-class amusements and sports. From shopping to dining, from water sports or parasailing, JBR has many things to offer to its visitor. A walk through the JBR along various retail outlets of handcrafts and boutiques is so amazing and that is a highly recommended activity to do in Dubai tour. Along the walk through the beach, you will get a mind-blowing view of the artificial island of Bluewaters made opposite to it in the JBR as well.  Jumeriah Beach Residence is a great project that every traveller has to see at least once in his lifetime.
